4K Video Capture for Musicians – Zoom Q2n-4K

Zoom audio devices have not only been popular with indie filmmakers, videographers and film crews, but also a large number of podcasters and musicians. Building on its already successful Q2n audio-video recorder, Zoom has announced the new Q2n-4K, an extremely compact audio recording device capable of capturing 4K HD video.

Zoom Q2n-4K

The device is aimed primarily for musicians and not video shooters or filmmakers, allowing them to capture both video and audio of rehearsals, live performances and personal monitoring. It can record up to 256GB on a single SDXC card, you can live stream on social media platforms, and it’s Mac and iOS compatible as an audio interface.

The Zoom Q2n-4K features a 150° wide-angle 15.2mm f/2.8 lens, color LCD display and one-touch recording mode. You can capture stereo sound through two microphones which are configured in X/Y (120 degrees) that can handle sound levels up to 120 dB SPL. Battery life (2 x AA batteries) depends heavily on the settings and resolution you are recording in, Zoom estimates around 2 hours in 4K/30p mode and 4 hours at 1080/30p.
